A worksheet to deepen students’ understanding of fractions.

Use this teaching resource to help consolidate your students’ understanding of fractions.

Assign each student a fraction, or allow the students to choose their own. If you have access to a set of fraction dice, students can roll to get a starting fraction. This is written in the box at the top of the worksheet. Print this resource on cardstock and slide into a dry-erase pocket. Then, use with a dry-erase marker for added longevity.

Students then complete a ‘fact file’ for their fraction. Activities include:

• identifying the numerator and denominator
• identifyingย an equivalent fraction and decimal
• decomposing the fraction
• locating the fraction on a number line
• drawing a visual representation of the fraction
• writing a word problem that has the fraction as the answer.

We also have a version of this resource that replaces the decomposition of the fraction with identifying an equivalent percent. Simply use the drop-down menu and select ‘PDF that includes percent’.
